    2001 SAN210 Issues

Was cruising down the river this past weekend and was doing about 30 mph when there was a loud stutter in the engine. It shook the entire boat for a few seconds before I knocked it out of gear.

I put it in reverse for a minute and continued down the river. Any ideas as to what this would be?

I also am having issues with water getting into the bow. I think the only explanation I can be is the new puppy pump system is overflowing into the bottom of the hull and the bilge is just not pumping it out fast enough.

Please let me know if anyone else has had the same issues and any solutions you’ve found.

    Thank you

I think when the motor goes into "limp mode" it'll do that. It's only happened once to me when the temperature got high from a bad impeller. my best guess.

My temp was at 160 and was not running hot. I don’t think that’s the issue but still a good starting point. I’ll check that this week. Thanks!

From my reading of the issue you had while running on a river: the boat shook, you stopped, put it in reverse, then when you continued the shaking was gone? That sounds to me like you picked up something with the prop- like a part of a towel or something - that then came off when you put it in reverse. Just a thought.

Agreed. Could have been a length of black rope that you just didn't see. Lots of possibilities.

I know when there is floating wood on my local lake, I'll occasionally impale a small piece of wood that'll stick to the propellor. If I bring it off plane, reverse and then go on my merry way, that'll release the piece of wood. Usually nothing happens to the propellor but, I'd notice it when I got back on plane.

That’s what I thought as well. It would make sense if it was a towel or a rope as I didn’t hear a thud like I hit anything. The weird thing was that it did the same thing two days before. And I like to think I keep a pretty decent eye on what’s in front of me. Anyone have any ideas of a mechanical issue that would make this occur?
