Long story short is I bought a salt water boat. After a laundry list of problems let the mechanic finish the task I had began. After a month of waiting I got the boat back and took out. Stopped to check levels. And V-drive was empty which I believe corresponded to the red light saying not to run if still on over 1200 rpms. I didn't run very long so don't believe internal damage happened. thought maybe they forgot to refill so took back to mechanic he assure me he had filled but we refilled again. took it around the cove. checked he fluid. milkshake. The mechanic told me he believe the cooler has rusted thru allowing water in and fluid out. im here for second opinions and advice, I have no more money to throw at this boat and don't know what else to do. The mechanic def overfilled the v drive the second time filling it up and also just curious on a 03 210 is it a walther or pcm? I purchased a special v drive fluid from nautique but now im reading if its a walther it just needed sae 30. any help would be much appreciated

I can tell you it's a walter, they didn't start using the pcm in 210's untill 06,
do you have any history of the boat from previous owner? What sort of problems were you having that made you take it to mechanic originally?2009 Super Air Nautique 210 TE
2006 Super Air Nautique 210 TE
1989 Sport Nautique

do you think putting in the pcm v-drive oil might have hurt it? and like a dummy I ran the boat before changing impeller and it was shot so it blew an exhaust hose. while replacing that and belts along with alternator one bolt broke off in exhaust riser. after messing with it for hours I decided to let marina work on it. they of couldn't get out either so they had to replace the whole manifold. I didn't have pump for fluids so while it was there they replaced the fluid. I supplied them with everything and even included sae 30 but he used the pcm fluid I supplied instead.no serious problem but I will say the prop is very very slightly bent on two of the four fins which does cause a little vibration. also I noticed the shaft seal is dripping more than it should

I could be wrong on this, as I've only had my boat for about a year. But I don't believe the separate oil cooler has anything to do with the v-drive. That cools the transmission. So, if your v-drive is making a milkshake, it's likely something internal to the v-drive. You can see in my picture below (assuming it works) where the large water hoses come and go from the v-drive. The transmission is behind that, and uses the same kind of cooler that's been used forever on inboards like this.

V-drive will likely have to be removed so you can see what the issue is and why water is getting in. There should be a tag on it so you can see exactly what kind of v-drive you have....then with some googling you may be able to figure out common issues with them when water is mixing with the oil.
Know you have already sunk money into it and not something you wanna hear, but not good to run a prop that has vibration either, it can cause damage to shaft seal and other things over time. You can get it repaired for about $150 compared to replacing tho down the road you will want a spare prop on hand too.
Good luck man....sucks. One of the many reasons why people shy away from older salt water boats, hope you bought it for a great price
