    R2 Zero Off Antenna Question

So I have constant porpoising on my 210 - I can modulate the wake shaper to get it to clean up, but it still never seems to go away. I have been reading about the R2 antenna (I have the puck) and the software update. Are you guys programming the ZO yourself? It pains me to think I need to drop 250 for the cable just to program it... that plus the 450 for the antenna makes this annoyingly expensive without any guarantee it will fix anything.

Will dealers or other people do this flash?

2009. I do a lot more wakeboarding than surfing. You don't notice it while boarding (doesnt seem to effect the wake) but driving can be annoying

I had a 2009 216V that had the porpoising issue. The antenna and update completely fixed it. Well worth doing.

There was a guy here that was willing to rent you the cable. ,,,,,,,however I just had my dealer do the update.

if you search my name I did a complete write up about it. Also used some different settings to smooth out the pull. Maybe see if you can change the pull settings to help a little before you drop the coin. Honestly. I had the wakeboard pro on my previous boat with paddle wheel , and it was way more reliable
and easy to dial in to hold speed. The zero off on 08/09 is garbage

"Garbage" is a bit strong. But I definitely understand the frustration. I had one in my 2008 210.

You either got to upgrade it, or add bow weight. Up to you...When we had fat bric in the nose, or a bag in walkway or a little up from that, then it was fine.

I don't think paddle wheel would be plug and play. Just needs to have dealer program the zero off module and write the check, or work around the problem. For us since we wanted bigger wake we were sacking it out anyway, so we just some extra weight in the bow.

The R2 antenna makes the 08/09 ZO work WAY better for boarding. The 210 of that era will porpoise even worse if you run the 1235 and extra weight. I added the R2 antenna to my '08 230 and it's better at everything.
swatguy was pretty harsh in his "garbage" description, I think the ZO is WAY better at holding speed for everything. If you ride on a river, then, you'll need to play with the speed going upriver vs. down. We often ride with a current and it's not a problem...
To upgrade, you'll need the R2 antenna, the wiring harness (not the programming cable), and then a way to program it. I paid my dealer to do it as at the time, couldn't find a "co-op" programming cable.

Ok. I'll have to contact the dealer. I'm not dropping 250 fro a cable. They'll probably charge me 250 in labor, but we'll see.

                    Thanks

I happen to agree with swatguy. Our '08 would porpoise horribly once it hit any roller or rough water at all making it virtually useless for wakeboarding. There are a lot of writeups that express similar experiences. As did everyone else I paid an exorbitant fee to upgrade to the R2 antenna and the firmware that goes with it. An extremely helpful member on these boards rented me the cable and it was a pretty simple upgrade. The porpoising is now gone, but it's just ridiculous the upgrade was needed and for such a high price.

I'm not a fan of GPS speed either, as I had paddlewheel speed control (PP Digital Pro) that performed flawlessly on two different boats without the need to futz with "river mode".

you should switch to a paddle and sell me your R2 antenna ;-)
