    2010 230 bad keypad?...

A friend recently purchased his first Nautique, a 2010 230, and what appears to be a bad keypad is severely hindering his maiden voyage. A replacement keypad has been ordered however it is on back-order and will not arrive until Wed of next week.

Question 1. Is there a definitive test to determine with certainty that the keypad is the issue?
Question 2. Is there a short term work-around? He would really like to use the boat this weekend.

What are the symptoms? I thought I had a bad keypad in my '04 210 because it was working intermittently. Turned out to be a bad battery connection. One of the connecting terminals was cracked and wreaking havoc on the electrical systems.

Also the dealers typically have dummy keypads they plug in so they don't have to use the codes to fire up every boat they work on. They probably could help.

Thanks Kmayotte, Essentially the keypad will not respond in any way and the horn will not work. I'll verify that the batteries are both good. The boat sat over the winter so that is a possibility. Unfortunately we do not have a dealer nearby (6hr drive) to test with a dummy keypad.

Problem solved! Turns out 2010 was the last year Nautique used a master toggle switch. Thanks!

What was the solution? I couldn't get my blower to turn off from the keypad yesterday until I turned off the master toggle switch. Im guessing my keypad is starting to go out too

Oh I wish I thought of telling you that. I remember when I bought my '04 210. The first time I dropped it in I couldn't get it to do anything as the switch was OFF. I called the previous owner and he helped me out and I felt like a dope. He had definitely shown me the switch when I looked over the boat at the purchase I had totally forgotten about it!
