    Boat leans to starboard side

    I have a 2000 air nautique.

I took my boat out this past weekend - it's been a while because I've had two new ballast tanks, speakers, amps and another battery put into the boat.

First thing I noticed - I was driving solo - the boat wants to turn to the port side - almost like the rudder had been moved or something. I looked back and noticed the wake was uneven. When i picked up the kids and the wife who usually sits on the port side the boat somewhat evened out; although, not much - kiddos and wife are small.

The new battery, the sub woofer and me all sit on the starboard side. Later in the afternoon - I was out of the boat and looking at it from behind the boat seems to be heavier/leaning on the starboard side. Just a few months ago this was not the case.

Do you guys think i need to offset the weight? Also i wonder if the rudder trim has been knock out of wack?

    Help.

RE: Boat leans to starboard side

It sounds like a matter of weight placement.

i have a couple of regular fat sacks for the ski lockers and two brick sacks (150lb each) i guess i can keep one filled up at all times and place it under the passenger seat. That will probably help out - I'll try. Thanks.

I have some experience in both a 98 Air, and a 2002 Air. I my experience, those boats are fairly weight sensitive. If the driver batteries, etc. are on one side, I'd expect it to lean some. As far as pulling to one side, I believe you have a tunable rudder. It's the little plastic thing on the rudder. You can move that a bit and it should make a big difference. By design, the boats should pull a bit to one side. This keeps a constant force on the rudder and helps the driver maintain a straight line when pulling a slalom skier. BKH
