    3M 4200 or 5200 Sealant

Still waiting on a modified bracket to install my Fresh Air Exhaust. The bracket allows me to mount the FAE to a 4 bolt swim platform bracket. I will need to remove the through hull bolts that currently hold the swim platform bracket on and replace the bolts with longer ones. When I do, should I use 3M 4200 or 5200 sealant?

Any tips on getting the old bolts out?

    Thanks.

Here is a photo of a similar install.

Both seal the same underwater...but like he said, 4200 is removable later, 5200 will take "other stuff with it if removed later, its like liquid nails and bonds much harder than the 4200 (5200 has a 72hr set up time before you wanna put in water if you are looking for the long term bond)
If you are just sealing bolt holes...I would say 4200. Looks like you have a different install of the FAE than I have seen before but know that FAE specs using the 5200 if you are bolting the flange of the FAE to the transom of the boat since it helps bond it permanently since there are also either screws or thru-bolts that attach the FAE to transom exhaust (that is what I did last year with mine and it has not budged), but like I said, may be a slightly different install with that rubber boot on there helping hold the FAE to the boat

Just a thought about the curing/hardening time. They make 5200 in fast cure instead of the regular. It’s in a white and red tube vs blue. Supposed to set in 24 hrs
