2001 196 rudder questions

Have the back seat and floor board out to try and access the rudder. I plan on redoing the packing and at another time shortly the steering cable.

I also have a leak, which I believe is coming from either the rudder, the rudder mount or the strut Mount as there is cold water coming from that area.

Do I have to take the gas tank out to access the rudder?

Any tips or tricks?

If you remove the carpet side walls and carpet floor in the rear storage hatch. You will have easy free access to the rudder and packing and steering cable
