2010 SN 200 overheating at idle

Hey SN tech gurus - wold love some help. I have a 2010 SN 200 with the EX 343 engine. We have run into an overheating problem when the boat is idling, even for a short period of time. When the boat is up to speed - say fater than 20MPH, it cools right down and runs normally. Changes the impeller just in case, it was fine. Seems that if we had a clog, we would have overheating at any speed. Any ideas on trouble shooting this?

What are the temps at idle and at speed? I would look at the thermostat next.

I would be looking for an air leak. Spinning the impeller faster might overcome the leak. Check hose clamps on the suction side, check the gasket on the strainer.

Thanks for the suggestions. Turns out the strainer platic had a hard to see crack (along the thread line) and when I replaced that part, everything now works fine. Everyone's help is much appreciated!!! Problem solved.
