I have a pontoon also. Great for cruising the lake or visiting friends when I don't want my Nautique to get slammed around. Just throw the bumpers out and don't worry about it. Very economical too, with a 115 hp Yamaha I can run hours on less than 10 gallons. Plus no winterizing.

We are talking about the recently released surfable pontoon boats not the traditional pontoon boats. See links below

Just a bit of thread drift. Not sure that there will be a big demand for Surf a Toons. Although there is a guy on my lake with a twin 300 hp tri toon.

IMHO - With traditional surf boat sales booming in popularity, I'm thinking the surfable pontoon boat concept is going to be a homerun in sales over time with much lower price points and will appeal to a larger customer base than todays surf boats.

Why wouldn't so one just buy a 3-5 year old 230? It seems the surf toons won't really produce a crisp wake for surfing.

I think once the surfable pontoon boats wake has been tweaked and refined , it will appeal to a much broader scope of purchasers due to the popularity of pontoon boats in general and the increased popularity in surfing. In addtion, you can pack these pontoon boats down with many folks that a tradition surf boat and they have lower price points. This will not happen overnight but IMHO, I think this will become the next genration of surf boats (forward thinking +5 years)

Sorry been busy with other systems and shows, 2019 will be big for Easydrive with some big names. Check out the recent Axis installation photos. Nautique at White Lake deal was put on hold.

Yes, but how will the air bubbles affect the thruster? The bubbles from the surf pipe will cause cavitation. How are you addressing that issue?

Have not had a large loss in performance due to cavitation, again we use the cowlings to help prevent this as well.

In the boat you posted it does not have a surf pipe exhaust like most of the modern Nautiques in which it is a standard feature now days. Have there been any tests on after market stern thrusters on a Nautique with a surf pipe exhaust system?

We have not equipped one on newer Nautique yet, with confirmed videos and photos I would love to offer a great price on one of our units to an owner of a newer Nautique!

If you have any tests of your product on the newer Nautiques with surf pipe exhausts please post on this thread. There must be a reason Nautique placed an auxilary exhaust on their boats equipped with the optional stern thruster?

Yes Nautique stern thruster options are internal thrusters, with motor mounted inside boat. We created the external option which equate to no need for an exhaust, water cooled units, much quieter, and run times of over 10 mins.

Cavitation. The intake (much like an impeller on a jet ski) pulls water at significant rate. The surf pipe exit location is a problem, as it allows the "pump" to pull agitated water from the bubbling pipe, which will cause cavitation.

As SoCal states , I'm concerned about the cavitation cause by the surf pipe exhaust buddles. with the Aftermarket model thrusters. This needs to be tested and addressed I do believe before anyone would actual purchase one for a newer model Nautique
