Where to install onboard charger - '16 230

Can someone suggest a good place to install an onboard charger on a 2016 230? I'm thinking somewhere in the area under the glovebox.

Can I mount it to any part of the carpeted surface along the port side of that compartment?

    Thanks.

You gotta be careful not to drill thru the hull if you go to port side, I believe the carpet is just glued to the fiberglass hull so I would be leary of that personally tho perhaps I am wrong. Under glove box (observers seat), I see most people install the onboard chargers either to the back wall (facing bow), depending on how many amps and other accessories you already have mounted there from factory....or to the starboard side, which is usually just over the batteries and against the walk-thru area (also typically where your battery switch is mounted). Regardless, make sure you check n double check so you do not drill thru something important.

Probably someone here with a 230 who could send a picture of how they did it

Thanks -- yeah, screws protruding from the side of the hull wouldn't be a good look. I think the two other spots you mentioned would be logical choices.

Make sure to get plenty of ventilation where ever you install it, under the helm or glove box out of the elements.

I am considering installing a charger on my 210 and would also love to see someone else’s set up.

i've got a 2012 210 with an OEM battery charger set up i will take pictures of for you later today if you are interested. its under the port side sun pad cushion, with a AC plug built into the engine divider wall so you can just plug in an extension cord. give me a few hours.

I found this picture of a charger installed on a 2018 230. Can anyone tell where on the boat it's located?

                hahah sail and ski eh?

that is under the port rear seats right in front of the motor box. it in mounted into the wall of the front of the port ballast tank. be careful with screw lengths there.

Thanks! I'd like to avoid extension cables, so that location won't work for me. I'm leaning towards the bulkhead behind the bow seat backs (port side).

That is where I see most maintainers installed....near where batteries are located. Just be careful with screw sizes and know what is behind the area you mount too. That is my plan as well, as too where to mount my maintainer, I currently have separate ones that I just hook up and plug in when boat is not in use to top off the batteries. Its the best way to keep batteries in tip top shape and make them last the longest possible

And I'm going to use spacers to keep it off the carpet and allow air flow behind it.

All done. I used 1" screws with 1/4" nylon spacers to maintain an air gap. Haven't figured out where I'll route the AC cable.

I like it. Did you mount the plug also or just leave it loose and run a cord under there?

I left the plug loose and I just run an extension cord in there. I didn't feel like making it any more complicated than it needs to be.
