A different type of hot start issue

Hello, I have a 98 Ski Nautique with a carbureted gt40. I知 noticing some issues starting when hot, not after sitting for an hour like a lot of the other threads mention, but this would be right after a short stop to pick up a skier. It hasn稚 left me stranded yet, and does start after a few tries, but I知 worried it will get worse.

The boat starts up cold on the first try nearly every time. But when hot it will turn over and not start, or start and die immediately. Eventually after a few tries, often with more throttle applied, it will start. What should I be looking at here? Tune up, carb rebuild?

    Thanks!

I'd start with checking the cap and rotor. If they have some corrosion, a hot engine can make them act up. And engine wise, a gt40 is multi-port injected. If you have a carb, it's not a gt40. It could have the gt40 heads though on a 351, probably be tagged a pro-boss in that instance.

Yes I believe I do have the gt-40 heads. So that makes it a pro-boss...good to know, thanks. I値l start with cap and rotor, also plan to change the plugs.

Not sure, this is my first season with the boat. It was well cared for but I知 in the dark about service intervals.

I was thinking the carb would be a likely culprit here.

So I changed out the cap, rotor, plugs, and wires, that seems to have corrected the issue. It started like a champ all day.

I ordered the carb rebuild kit and will probably do that job anyway.

            Thanks for the input folks.
