    Washing

I finally got around to reading part of the owners manual last night and it said to wash the boat with a mild detergent after every use. Is this something that everyone does? I have been simply wiping the boat down with a terry cloth after each use. If there are any waterspots when I go to take it out again I spray spot remover and wipe them off. Anything wrong with taking it to a car wash?

    RE: Washing

Wiping/drying the boat off is much better than nothing. Applying some sort of protectant or cleaner is much better. I have used 303 and Fantastic, both work pretty well. 303 is my favorite but its the most expensive.

Taking it to a car wash seems a little overkill to me. You don't want to soak the boat, just clean it... There will always be little spots where you cant reach, and if you soak the boat those spots will get that much more mildewy... I think there is a handout in the manual that lists all the DOs and DON'Ts in order to keep your boat clean. I think more people do at least something to their boat to keep it in good condition than not..

      RE: Washing

I keep it in a enclosed storge facility 99% of the time (100% of the time when not being used) and don't usually wash it after use unless it has nasty lake scum on it. I do a yearly head to toe detail on it. While on the lake I usually use a towel to keep any nasty areas clean where dirty shoes or other dirty object get it dirty, but I don't detail it after each use. Then again, we are really anal about it not getting dirty in the first place.

One of the great things about a white hull.
