    Board Rack Bungee Cord Replacement

Rather than pay $100+ for new board rack bungee tie downs, I tried to replace them myself by buying replacement cord. The net webbing was fine but trying to thread the same size bungee thru the web net became problematic. I tried several methods and had lots of issues. (Fusing a string to the cord, using a rope fib, pushing it thru with a stiff wire). The solution I ended up with was to purchase 1/4" cord, loop a string thru the webbing, and then pulled the bungee thru the webbing double, while stretching it. Used a Velcro tie on the end for a strap, but may replace this with webbing.

25 feet of webbing was $10
Pig ring pliers and clamps to fasten it to the rack will be $20
Heat shrink tube, I already had but add $3

$34*2 is high for what it is...

Swankster, can you post or pm where you got the 1/4 inch bungee cord. You feel it is same thickness?

            So many to choose from...

Where you get and what was thickness of the heat shrink tube?

Sorry for the delay. I purchased this but cannot give it a review yet, still debating and like to see how long it will last. I purchased the 1/4 so I can double it and pull it thru the webbing. It is not as thick but it works.

The heat shrink came from one of the auto part stores. Just buy big enough for whatever you buy to fit in it as it will shrink when you put the heat gun to it. The big box stores sell it also.
