    maybe the stupidest questions ever...

today we took our "new to us" 2002 super air nautique out for its maiden voyage. man, what a difference from our 1982 2001!!! not that we didn't love that boat, but, wow! anyways, i have 2 questions that i hope someone can help us out with without laughing so hard they wet themselves!
    my first is...
what are the up and down buttons on the keypad that you enter your code into?
    second...
our port and starboard tanks kept filling up with water. is this normal? is there a way to keep them empty?
we will certainly have more questions i'm sure.

    thanks for the help!!!

The up and down are to raise and lower the engine hatch on the '01 and older versions of the super air.

The only way to keep the water out (without adding a lot of aftermarket electric or cable operated valves) is to close the sea c0cks.

You have to manually close the valves on the rear - Blue Handles (Not the red handle! This is your raw water intake for your cooling, etc.) The buttons on your 02 we called "taps"! Don't do anything....

ok. what in the heck are the sea cocks? should we just let the tanks fill up? it seems like the front of the boat raises up really high while we're driving and i was thinking the filled tanks or the "up" or "down" buttons might have something to do with this.

        one more question...
we didn't get a key to open the gas filler. is there anything else we can use?

thanks SO much for the replies!

A couple of quaters works to open the gas cap in a pinch. You can pick up a gas cap key cheap at most marine dealers.

On my '02, I just use a flat head screwdriver - mine has a slot in the center.

For the gas cap you could throw an old sturdy key on your ring to twist it off with that.
              I don\'t care.

Sea cocks are the valves that are mounted directly to the thru hull fittings. Close them, and not water will enter. They should be clearly marked and as mentioned before should have blue handle extensions.

Replace the Flow-Rite valves with TH-marine valves and the ballast should work as designed from the helm, I believe 02 was the first year of the flow-wrong valves.

Maybe 03 was the first year...

will emptying the tanks keep the bow of the boat down? i find myself squatting down on the seat instead of being able to sit in it while driving. my hubby just jumps up on one knee. our 2001 didn't do this...

and for what its worth, what an awesome site! i really expected some moron to come back at me (after all, i was asking pretty moronic questions!) but what i got was a host of people taking time out to help!

                        thanks!

Fill the belly tank, and keep the rear tanks empty.

The other thing to do is be sure you are not putting all f your gear in the back of the boat. I have found the these boats are very tempremental to weight balance front to back.

If it is an early '02 it won't have the flow rite. If it is a late '02 it might. Mine does not have them and it was made after the GT-40 was no longer an option.

we found the blue handles and if it ever stops raining (florida Yellow_Flash_Colorz: ) we'll test it out!

                            thanks!

Your bow raise very high because your ballast tank full,it weight the rear of the boat too much, I really don't like this in my 01 SAN ,suppose 02 and 01 are the same ballast design, it lacks a middle weight ballast , with out this,I couldn't use the original ballast system almostly, it only make the bow high and not so help to make wake, add ateast 400lb on middle will improve this, the seacock valve will hard to turn after long time not use, if you can't handle it with the handle, use a flat nose pier direct apply to the valve ,make it looser serveral times, you may close it completely, more your emty pump may not funtion if you can't use the empty SW
