    Waterproofing Surf Select Remote

I'm wondering if anyone has tried to improve the water-resistance of the surf select remote. I use the remote just about every time I surf. I love to transfer back and forth.

I'm on my fourth warranty replacement remote. Water continually sneaks inside and corrodes the circuit board and killing the remote. This last go around I got Nautique to send me two remotes.

I'm thinking about opening one up and waterproofing the circuit board and sealing the edges and around the rubber button. I have no experience doing this. Any insight?

Only looking for remote advice here. No pebbble watch advice, plenty of threads on that. Thanks.

The surf select remote is pretty poor. I don't use it at all. The Pebble does side switch and a LOT more. I can't think of any good reason to use the blue remote.

I am having same problem, im on my 3 replacement remote. Nautique claims to have revised the remote, as soon as I get that one we will see but for now I just bought a pebble so I can at least use the system.

I would have taken the under for time it would take for you to reply re: pebble watch if anyone would have taken the bet. Haha!

As I've said before my experience with the Pebble watch was a complete disaster so that's the reason for the blue remote. The remote does everything I need (aside from work for more than 2 months), only requires 1 hand to initiate. Unless you want to sell me a ready to go pebble classic to hook up to a 2016 G, I'd like to keep this thread about the remote.

I have never used my surf select remote and hope you can get yours waterproofed none the less. I think if you used a Pebble watch you would prefer it over the remote. Does require you to use 2 hands to make the switch but at least you are not holding a device in your hand the whole time while surfing.

There are several products made for waterproofing circuit boards. And lots of info online.
Try searching for waterproof a circuit board.

Maybe just put in a waterproof case of some kind. You only have to press the one button? Low tech solution...

Did you end up using a waterproofing spray or something else? Can you share how you did it and if it worked?

This is one of my biggest gripes, I've been through at least a dozen surf remotes and like someone mentioned above I just get 2 sent to me at a time now. I've tried opening them up and using a silicon sealer around the edges, vacuum packed bags, etc....nothing seems to work. The last 2 that were sent to me were a "new improved" version, although they look identical they have held up for about a month.

Just get the Pebble watch much easier then dumb surf select remote . I have used my remote once and only use the watch . No water issues period.
