    2011sante230 zero oil pressure

I’m stumped, ran the boat, no issues next week started and showed 0-1 psi. I checked for leaks, checked the oil level, changed the filter and sending unit.
Still showing zero. Boat has less then 250 hours,I’ve never heard of a mechanical oil pump fail on one of these.

Which engine? Just had a similar problem with our 05 club boat with the ZR engine. Changed sender, seemed okay, now problem is back. Gauge goes from 0 to 60 randomly.

It has the ZR409 6 liter. 250 hours on it. It’s at the dealership here in Orlando, I’ll let you know what they find. Jeff

Thanks Jeff, sounds like a similar problem. Engine sounds fine and runs fine, oil is on the money, no leaks, I just don't want to be the guy who puts a piece of tape over an idiot gauge thinking it's the gauge. Jim.

This is what I got from these knuckleheads, offering total engine replacement due to zero oil psi during start only.

We removed the engine from your boat and partially disassembled it. We inspected the rod bearings and overall appearance of the bottom end to see if there was any noticeable damage. The rod bearings looked fine as well as everything else on the bottom end. We pulled the oil pump and found that the pressure relief valve piston was scored with some fine metal shavings. What we think happened was that the piston got stuck in an open position causing loss of oil pressure. There are a couple ways we can approach repairing what has happened. First, we could simply replace the oil pump reassemble the engine and reinstall it. This would be the most economical way to repair it but we won’t know until we re start the engine if everything is okay. There would not be any warranty implied for this type of repair, nor would we be liable for any of the labor should this repair not fix the issue. The other is to get a base engine from PCM which is a block and heads assembled new from the factory and we install the intake, alternator, etc. off your motor. That would come with a 1 year manufactures warranty from PCM. Please take time to think this over and let me know which direction you would like to go.

Well, I got the estimate. Install a brand new $203 oil pump and reinstall the engine with a lake test.......$6500.

Wait, so either install the new oil pump for $203 or put in a new engine for $6500?
Or is this $6500 just to install the oil pump and put it back together?

              This is crazy.
How did the engine run when the oil pressure was reading zero?

We spent $700 for the new sender and while the gauge is funky the boat is running fine, we've put 30 hours on it with no problems. I am starting to believe that the problem isn't the oil pressure it's in the gateway system.

$6500 to replace the pump and reassemble the old engine. That includes the dock side check and local pickup.
My other option was a long block from pcm for $8000 and then the labor to complete and reinstall the engine with a 1year warranty. 10k+

The old oil pump failed, motor was knocking but never ran other then start sequence.

That just seems like a crazy amount of money for a reassembly. I am just sick over this for you.

were you seeing no oil pressure on the gage, or did you get a low oil pressure warning? I have a 2009 239 with the ZR4 and it just started beeping and check engine light, data field in the Tach/Display reads LOW OIL PRESSURE. it goes away within a couple seconds and boat runs fine. just curious if anyone has seen this as well. are sensor failures common. are there separate sensors for the ECM and the gage?
