So this is the first year IÂ’ve kept my boat on the water. I was washing off some of the scum with a microfiber while it was floating and noticed a chip underneath about 3-4 inches in from the side. Also had a small sharp piece of metal sticking out. Pulled the boat out, took it home, got under there and pull out a small piece of metal with some pliers. Shaped like a staple, super small. There was some rust in there as well. This is right between the wheels while itÂ’s sitting on the trailer. Any insight to this? Is this a part of the construction? Did moisture cause this piece of metal to rust/swell and puncture through the gel coat?
I have a hard time believing it came from an outside source to get lodged in there.
