Looking to finally get some of the knicks and dings I have on my boat repaired. How much of a specialty is gel coat repair? I've gotten a quote from our local Mastercraft dealer that seems to be high but I do know they do good work. I've got an auto body guy who claims he can do the work but I have my concerns. I'm scared to try it myself in fears of making a mistake. I'm in the West Michigan area, has anyone used a shop they recommend. Attached are some of the spots I want to be done. QUote, I got was between $850-$1000.

Seems like a fair quote for what has to be done.
Gel coat repair is not really hard to do....but its time consuming and takes balls if you have never done it before.
I wet sanded a lot of areas (dry dock marina was not kind when using forklift...will never do that again)....and then compounded and polished my entire boat this Spring and had never done it before, my boat is black. Red would also be a color that shows imperfections.
After spending around 5hrs watching u-tube videos, I spend 35-40hrs working on the boat till I was happy. Feels good to complete a job like that yourself but i can tell you I had a few moments where I was scared s**tless. After I wetsanded and washed it off.....I thot the gelcoat was ruined forever, lol. Looking back, it probably would have been worth letting a pro do the work due to how long it took me. Now that I have the experience tho...I would not hesitate to do it again if needed and it would surely take me half the time.

Thanks Mike, I’ll check him out. Quote was from Action which I’ve heard they do good work as well.
