98 GT40 prop spin or transmission

    Hello friends

I've got a 98 SN GT40 approx 550 hrs and had a problem this weekend. When I accelerated at heavy throttle the boat had an initial jump but the acceleration almost immediately declined but RPMS continued grow and I thought I could hear a spinning sound. If I accelerated very gradually I could get up to full speed without the problem occuring and it didn't seem to occur if I hit the throttle heavy at speeds greater than 25 mph. So no hole shot is the problem, which is a big problem for skiing. I was able to pull my 8 year old on kids skis but it did slip a little while pulling him up. Any thoughts and any suggestions for mechanic in okc? Tranny fluid appears to be full and fairly clean.

Transmission. Do a fluid change just to be sure, two quarts if you get it all and try it again. Otherwise it needs service. Transmissions are pretty simple and repairs not bad.

Sounds like a slipping transmission. Other things you could check though are to make sure you haven't sheared a key at the prop or transmission coupling.

Hello Friends thanks for the advice and tips. Do you have any experience in doing a rebuild in the PCM 40a tranismission?
