Boat trouble on Labor Day weekend! Need help

Could use any guidance tonight from the group. Have a 2014 G25 with 550 hp motor. Went out surfing tonight and boat hesitated while surfing and then engine cut off. Tried again and same thing. Looked at system screen and had this. Other sign was took a while to get to speed.


P2112 code. Drained ballast and tried getting up to normal speed and didn’t have a problem. Had dinner and tried again and same thing when surfing but drained and got up to speed. Definitely smelled gas as well after it cut out. Code seems to be issue with throttle body.

Problem is it is Labor Day weekend and closest Nautique deal is brand new after Marine Max divorce son don’t think they have much experience and assume they won’t have the parts or time to repair. There is a Marine Max not too far away so may be a better shot?

Problem is I have about 4 hours tomorrow when dealers will be open.

Here are questions:
Anyone experienced the same?
Should I try and take apart and clean and see it it fixes problem?
Would replacing throttle body solve the problem?
Is it the same part as a car part? If so could it be purchased at auto parts place or try and buy from boat shop?

Any way to easily find the part number?

1. Gas smell is very likely one of two things.... a symptom of the main problem or Leaky fuel injectors.

Ive has this problem.

2. Main problem: you’re supercharger May not be engaging bringing you down from 550hp to approx 300hp.

is your supercharger circulation pump running? When you run the engine and it should continue to run for another 10+ mins after you cut off the engine.

big black pump on the aft port side engine wall behind engine. Ensure it is running.... check the connection wire up to it.

are both of your coolant resvoirs full?

i had aftermarket transom LEDs installed. During the install the guy disconnected my circulation pump for more
space and forgot to reconnect. instantly a 300hp G23!

TPS could be the issue . I can’t speak for pcm but have had issues on cars

Find a volt meter . You should have a leg coming out of tps you can test . They are all 5 volt reference . Should idle at right under 1 volt and when you open blades should go close to 5 at wot (wide open throttle )

Crazy but you might check connection . Look at the pins on the plug and make sure none of them pushed out .

You can unplug the tps easily just to inspect the connection .

To answer your part number question ..

It should be same as car . You should be able to look at part number located on it and cross it over at local parts house but be careful with aftermarket tps, they tend to have failures compared to factory gm

Thanks for all of the advise. Ended up calling the "New" Nautique dealer in the area around the lake house, Water Sports Central in Seneca, SC, (picked up CC after Marine Max lost them) and explained the problem and your thought and he agreed he thought it was throttle position sensor. Recommended I take off throttle body (TPS build it sort of) and take it to auto parts store and see if they had one (dealer did not). Got it off with no issue and took it to Autozone. Even with part number etched into the part they couldn't find it and since it wasn't off a car they couldn't look it up. Found one that may be right but not sure and didn't have it in stock anyway. Long story but ended up calling Chevy dealer and talked to parts guy. Sent him pictures and found one exactly like it. He was awesome and stayed late until I could get there. Bought whole throttle body for pricey $250 (for 2009 5.3L) and installed it on boat. Tested and motor hesitated but then started working. Tested codes and same one would show up some but not every time.

It seemed to work the rest of the weekend and the premium for the part was worth it to have boat for long weekend and for kids to get wakesurfing practice. It does smell like it is running rich still and gas consumption seems to be high so not sure if it is just "resetting" itself or what is going on. Did listen and could hear supercharger pump running after engine was off. Any thoughts on if it will correct itself or how to check would be helpful.

How many hours? Have you tried changing plugs? I had a similar issue in that I couldn't get up to speed with ballast and boat felt underpowered even without ballast.

No gas smell or codes though. Changed out the plugs and issue was gone.

2013 G25 with 550 and issue occurred at about 275 hours.
