2002 Ski Nautique GT40 Exhaust Smell

    Hi All,
I have a new to me 2002 Ski Nautique with the GT40. Awesome boat.
Boat runs really great, no starting issues, idles correctly, performs strong.

However, I have a rather strong fuel smell from the exhaust, noticeable mainly when skiing behind it. I changed cap, rotor and plugs - everything looked good there. Clean burn on the plugs, and cap/rotor looked good. I've cleaned the ISC - the boat was a bit surgy when I got it, but all of the above has changed that.
Thermostat was changed, operates at 170 degrees.

I just have no tell tale signs of running rich, it just is fumy. Is this normal? I have stumbled on that comment before.

Is there a temp sender separate from the gauge that could be reading cold and ECU is dumping extra fuel (although my plugs showed no sign of that)

I wish I could be of more help on this. I am struggling with a few things on my GT40. I would suggest checking out the CCFan forums. They focus a lot more on these older type engines.

Old thread but until I got new injectors, my engine was the same. The old injectors were pretty dirty, and leaked.

Just checked fuel pressure. Primes to ~30psi then drops to zero FAST. Suppose that is a very leaky injector?

I had a similar issue in a Jeep, same thing, leaky injectors
