Ok I need any bodies help who may know what I'm talking about or has heard of this. I found a post on here a couple of years ago and of course it was on aa old phone. I don't haver it now and can't find it. Our Nautique wants to start cutting out when ever we pull the kids on the tubes and the motor gets hot and RPM's are up. This boat is fuel injected so its not a carb thing. When ever it does this mysterious cutting out, if you cut the motor off and then restart its like it resets. But then if you are back up to 3000 rpm it will start cutting out again. It had something to do with "spacing" on something! I had seen a post like I said on here before that a gentleman was having the same exact thing happening to his Nautique. Anybody with any ideas, suggestions are greatly appreciated. Tx

Does your boat have the protec system on it? 94 MY didn't specifically have fuel injection. Only a hybrid system. Your issues sort of sound like a protec system going bad. When the protec system goes most replace it with a carb. There is a conversion kit.

You may have a coil-pack going bad on the protec ignition, where it may start missing at higher loads/temps. Usually when they go, they'll look melted somewhat, so you can visually inspect them. Otherwise, possibly a fuel pump issue where it doesn't have enough oomph to supply at the higher loads. The TBI portion of that engine was generally pretty stout, and it's usually the ignition system that will eventually fail and necessitate swapping to a carb. Vince over at SkiDim is pretty well versed on that engine, and would probably have some good info if you call him.

I thought I saw about a month ago on Correct Craft Fan that someone figured out how to replace the protec ignition system but still keep the TBI. I'll see if I can find it and link
