Where to buy -100* Antifreeze? (not the pink stuff)

Hey guys I'm having a hard time finding a local retailer that sells the -100* non-toxic antifreeze and wanted to see where others are getting it? I'm not talking about the -50* pink stuff that is not really meant for winterizing engines and can actually be corrosive to metals. I'm talking about the non-toxic -100* kind that is usually blue and is supposedly non-corrosive to metals.

I can find it on-line, but I would rather avoid the shipping charges for 5 gallons of antifreeze.

    TIA,

I did some research and some of the marine/RV pink antifreeze has alcohol in it which is bad for rubber hoses and seals and it can evaporate and not provide corrosion protection.

Has anyone found a good source for propylene glycol antifreeze that doesn't contain any alcohol?

I know some west marines used to carry small quantities of the -100 blueish purple stuff. If not they’ll ship it for free for you to your home if you order in a store.

You could try Prestone Low-Tox. It's rated -76 depending on mix and provides corrosion protection. Available at most auto parts stores.

This really doesn't make any sense at all. Why would an antifreeze meant for an engine be corrosive to metals? This sounds like another myth to me. White Lake Marine has been winterizing my boats for decades and they use the "pink stuff." If it was corroding metals, they'd surely be off of it by now. They winterize hundreds of boats every fall.

There are some pink antifreezes that have alcohol in them and are only for winterizing water systems in boats and RVs. The pure propylene glycol is made for use in engines. i will post a Youtube video.

                Charles,

These pics are taken from a marine antifreeze container from Walmart. Point is this antifreeze contains ethyl alcohol and says it shouldn’t be used in engines. The instructions only mention using it in swimming pools and plumbing in boats/RVs.

OK, fine, but there is most certainly some pink antifreeze somewhere that's fine in engines because again, WLM has been using it for decades. The video here doesn't say that the "pink stuff" is not correct. It says find the one with Propylene Glycol rather than ethyl alcohol. But even that kinda doesn't make sense. In the video, he says ethyl alcohol will dry out seals, rubber, etc. Surely there are seals and rubber in swimming pools and RV water systems.

It says you can't use it as coolant. It doesn't say you can't use it in your engine to winterize it does it?

I corrected myself in post #2 and asked if anyone knew of a source that sold propylene glycol antifreeze without ethyl alcohol. I really don’t care what color it is.

I’m sure WLM uses alcohol free antifreeze.

Hey guys for anyone still interested. I found Stabil brand Marine/RV antifreeze at some of the local Walmart stores for about $3.50/gal. Its rated at -75* and unlike the cheaper Walmart SuperTech brand, it doesn't contain any ethyl alcohol.

Check with your local Walmart store to see if they have it before you go. Not all of the stores in my area had it. They have either just started carrying this year or they only get small shipments in the fall because I have only been able to find the SuperTech brand in the past.

I will be winterizing this weekend.

BTW, I did find a source for the -100* blue marine/RV AF, but its $12/gal so I'm going with the Stabil at $3.50/gal.
