    SV211 - Heater Repair questions

Working to restore all the items left go by the previous owner of this 06 SV211.

The heater core was disconnected many years ago, the lines were cut near the front of the engine and a loop created. I'm in north east Ohio - I need/want the heater working. I picked up a new core from NautiqueParts, I have it installed and I'm working to run the lines back to the motor.

Here's the question: I was planning to run all new hose. Should I do that? Should I add a couple of shut off valves incase I ever have a problem and need to shut the connection off? Is there anything I should do now to make winterizing easier in the future?

    Thanks for the help.

Without seeing condition of the hoses no one can say whether you should replace or not. Up to you.

I would suggest putting in a couple of shutoff's; one for each line. Don't over complicate. You can use good 5/8 hose fittings. Then it will be easy to disconnect them and blow out end of season.

I would do that yes, and I would also install an inline pump. I have had several heaters in different nautiques and when idling, could never get warm air. I installed an inline circulation pump (I have mine wired to a separate switch so it doesn't run all the time) and now have very nice warm air at idle.

Interesting idea - now would be the time to do that - I have the entire thing torn apart.

Can you send me a link to something like you are referring to?

Also - The current hose is 5/8 600psi - if the above fitting is good enough, I"m guessing I don't really need 600psi hose either!!

        thanks,
        eric

Regarding heat at idle - I've had good luck using a part from Heatercraft that just re-routes the return line to come back just "upstream" of the raw water pump. Simpler than an inline pump, and I've found them to work very well. Just a thought.

For the hose, you can use anything labeled "heater hose" that you'd get at an auto parts store, no problem.
