Cracked prop nut

Anyone seen this before? Have any idea what would cause it? Cotter pin was cracked into several pieces, too. 2011 Sport EX343 with 400 hours, no prop damage, no driveline vibration, except I have experienced the rudder vibration during launch that has been posted in these forums before.

I have een cotter pins get brittle. That photo looks like just the covering over the nylon lock nut failed, and not the nut. Probably a poor quality nut. Just my .02

Nothing caused it. Just replace the nut and torque it at 50lbft. I’ve had one do it too.
