    G23 prop fell off

    2017 G23, 450 HP PCM engine 140 hours.

So today we were cruising around at about 30 mph when I started to feel a vibration. At first I thought it was nothing so I slowed down a bit, then felt the propulsion give out and the boat de-torque (listed to the port side). the engine revved real high so I immediately killed it. No propulsion. After a tow back to the marina we got it up on the lift to find this:

Prop shaft broke right behind the prop. Thankfully no hull or rudder damage. After reading up a bit I see that this has been described more than a few times.

Since it is the weekend that the movie about Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody came out. Perhaps it is appropriate to say, "Another One Bites the Dust."

How does the rudder not get messed up too? I don’t see a mark on it.

Jeff can this be added the the "Prop Fell Off" thread which is up to 41 pages and counting.? It would be easier to document this shaft failure along with the countless other failures.

Mark, yeh it appears not any damage other than the prop shaft, amazing. Suppose someone had been surfing behind there at the time it fell off? Wow, makes you think. Anyway, my dealer is looking at it now. Pretty sure this will be covered by warranty. Can't wait to get back on the water...
