    Tachometer

Every now and then my tachometer gives me an inaccurate reading (by about 500 to 1,000 rpms) or flucuates up and down with no change to the throttle position. Does anyone know what might be causing this and how I can fix it?

Tyran...Don't know if this is what you meant, but it's an electronic ingition (Pro-Tec). The boat is a 1994 Sport Nautique with a PCM 351 Ford 5.8 HO Pro Boss Pro-Tec.

i would call vince at skidim.

if you don't have any performance issues, i would say that it is isolated to the tack itself or it might be loosing it's signal somewhere. do you have perfect pass or anything that taps into that wire?

look at your crank position sensor on the harmonic balancer. it might be picking up an errant signal, but again you would have performance issues.

It could be a loose ground wire on the back of the guage. Very unlikely that it is issues with harmonic balancers
