    Help...

I have a quick question for you...this past weekend the boat started to lunge forward when put into gear (reverse and forward). It only does it occassionally but seems to be getting more frequent.

I also noticed that it was more prone to do this when we came to an abrupt stop and then put back into gear again. Also, the engine seemed to "gargle" and shake a bit when this occurred?? Occassionally, black smoke was produced when this occurred.

    Any thoughts?

    RE: Help...

Engine? Year? EFI/Carburetor? Black smoke means excess fuel being delivered. This indicates, to me anyway, that you have a carbureted engine that is flooding at idle. Might be time for a carburetor rebuild.
