Since I bought my newer boat, I have been having problems with my ignition. A couple of times now, the boat wouldnt shut off when I turned the key back. I went and disconnected both battery terminals, pulled the kill switch, disconnected the ignition switch, and still the engine kept on running. I sat there for about 10 minutes trying everything to shut it off......finally I blipped the ignition key like I wanted to start the engine and the friction between the starter teeth and flywheel was enough to stop the engine. Not my first choice but it shut it off.......The crappy part of the whole situation was after that, I cranked up the engine again and I could shut it off no problem. I started it and shut it off another 8-10 times trying to repeat the problem so I could look into it a little more. I have changed the ignition switch already, so I know thats not the problem. Does it sound like I will be chasing a ghost for a while? Does anbody have wiring diagrams for the starting/shut down wiring in the boat? Its a 94 SN with the Pro Boss 351.
Has anbody gone through something like this before? Any help, would be greatly appreciated!
Also, another note : One day about a week ago I pulled the boat out of the garage and began to wash it. I noticed the warning light on the top of the dash and my ignition light on the breaker panel was on. There was no key in the boat, and ofcourse it was not running and the ignition button was not pushed in. My hour meter was ticking away, and all my accesories were powered. When I pulled the wires off of the kill switch, everything shut off and worked like normal.........what gives??????
