Keyless Ignition on a 97 SSN?

I'm just curious if anyone has done this, or seen it done. But I'm just playing with the idea of installing a keyless ignition on a 97 Super Sport - I'm looking at this one Mercruiser Marine, or if possibile, putting one of the newer SAN style keypads into the dash (if I can find one for sale at a dealer).

Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially on the up- and down-sides of it and some difficulties which I may run into with the installation of the keypad.

I would check to see how much the CC keyless is. It is made for the system and should just plug into the system where the keyed wiring is now.

Some of the guys over at the malibu forums have done this mod with that part. I believe the West Marine price is very good (for once).

There are some major changes in the dash switches between the '97 and '00 boats, so I wouldnt expect the CC system to drop right into an older boat.

The CC system is integrated with the fuse panel, and is not just a key pad. I don't think it is an easy drop in installation because of that. Is it possible, sure, but why spend that kind of money to just have a key pad.
