In Texas. Boat is kept in an insulated hangar. I've never seen the inside temp lower than about 40. Would you still drain and winterize in this situation? Is there any benefit? Anything else to consider for winter storage besides freezing issues? Thanks.

I have a similar situation here in Oregon. Boats in an insulated garage and even when the temps are below freezing and even single digits it’s still 40 in the garage. I still change the oil, fill the cooling system with antifreeze to help prevent corrosion, fog the cylinders and run stabil with non ethanol premium fuel. It’s cheap insurance.

The old saying I grew up with was 24 degrees for 24 hours to crack a block. Does that ever happen in TX? If you want peace of mind, drain the block and manifolds. I don't know about PCM these days, but I don't fog my Ilmor per the manual, due to the cat sensors.'08 196LE (previous)

If I had easy access, I would go over and without starting the motor turn if over once a month. But that's about it.

I live in north Georgia it pretty much stays above freezing all winter long. That being said it does go below freezing usually for short periods like overnight. I currently have 5 boats I keep inside a 40x60 unheated pole barn . I have never seen the temp below freezing inside the barn. I still winterize all my boats the same as when I lived up north. The only difference is I only mix the antifreeze down to 0 F instead of -30 up north. There is no doubt I could get away with just draining or doing nothing but for the cost of materials and the 15 minutes it takes to drain and fill why take the chance? I guess you just gotta ask yourself '' Do you feel lucky'' ?
