Oil Change pump hook up to drain hose?

I just purchased a oil pump bucket system. I understand I will need to reinvent it with some hose and fitting to connect to the drain line. I've heard of some using a quick connect/disconnect fitting like on an air hose. I'm surprised oil will flow thru that. Quick connect sounds nice but I'm sure not required. Can ya'll show me what system you have. I'll be connecting to the drain line coming off the oil pan (2012 SAN210 with pcm343ex). It has a brass fitting with a cap now. Thanks

I stick the smaller pump hose into the larger drain hose a wrap the join in electrical tape. Not elegant but functional! I bought a specific screw fitting for the end of the pump hose but never got round to fitting it.

You don't need anything. Just insert the oil pump tube all the way into the drain hose coming from the oil pan. No need for electrical tape or fittings. The pump will pull the oil from the drain hose. Be sure to warm the oil up so it flows better.

That's exactly right. No need to make any kind of fitting or anything.

Thank. That makes sense. Lots of ways to skin the cat. I was thinking it needed to be sealed for better suction and I needed to find a fitting to screw onto the drain hose.

Nope. No seal and no fitting required. When you draw a vacuum on the tank it's going to pull fluid up the tube.
