Filler Neck Chains 2002 Super Air

Both of my filler cap chains are broke/came loose. I was curious is it easier to change out the filler necks with new chains already installed? I bought a new cap with a chain but it didn’t fit well. Has anyone changed out the filler necks before, and is it pretty simple?

Why not just replace the chain. Find the size and buy some stainless steel replacement. The screw that holds the chain on the cap is the same on both ends. I've had to replace mine a few times just due to the chain breaking when filling. Found the end pieces in the tank last year when I pulled the tank out.
