steers hard to the right when under power. Is this normal for a 1999 ski Nautique?

A certain amount of pull one direction or the other is typical. It helps to keep the boat straight in the slalom course with no slop in the steering.

- Disconnect the steering cable from the tiller arm on the rudder.
- Test the steering. If the steering is still stiff, it's the cable. If it's nice and smooth, the rudder needs to be removed cleaned and re-greased.

Thanks for info. I will try it. Going to replace cable and clean and grease rudder. Easy to steer when going slow gets harder the faster I go. Only to the right is it hard.Comment

OK, but again you should TEST as I described above to make sure it's the cable. If it's never been replaced then that's most likely the problem, but you can't say for sure until you've tested it.Originally posted by Tbskis View Post
Of course you should remove, clean and regrease the rudder because that's inexpensive and fairly easy. Replacing the steering cable is much more involved.
