    Patched holes

So I found out from these forums that these patched holes on my recently purchased 2000 Sport Nautique are from the original speedometer pilot tubes. I'm not sure what was used to fill the holes, but it almost has a rubber-like texture/feel. I realize the boat is almost 20 years old and I should probably just ignore it. But on the other hand, it kind of bothers me when things aren't done right. Has anyone ever seen this before, or know what they could have used to fill these holes? And does it seem like an acceptable long term repair? I'm just wondering if I should go through the hassle of trying to remove whatever they used, and try and do it right by possibly using some fiberglass resin/gelcoat repair.

Oh good call, I bet you're right. Well that makes me feel better about it - looks to be a pretty good product. I think I'll just leave it alone for now. Thanks!

Yeah that is some good stuff. It is meant for thru-hull penetration and below water line repair. At some point if you want to drill the 3 M 5200 product out of the holes , you can back fill with this product to give you a clean smooth look vs the rubbery look . I used some of this when I was restoring my 1976 13 ft Boston Whaler prior to the gel coat patch layer
