    Charging Batteries on a G23

I tried to put a charger on my battery on a G23 and every time I hit the charge button, the display says FLO. Per the instructions, this suggests the battery is fully charged, but when I put my volt Meter on the battery, I get 5.7V. I also took off all the wires just to make sure there was not something in the circuit causing this.

Boat is a 2016 with original batteries. Charger is a 40amp black and decker.

    Thoughts?

Battery is toast. They don't last forever. You can pull them out and take them to an auto parts store. They'll test them again, but at 5.7v, they're goners.

I’ve seen them short out internally . This looks to be the case. I bet it fails the load test

Try the charger on the other battery or another battery in your car/truck.

If youve had below freezing temps, replace the battery(s). Not worth even trying to charge and test a battery that @ 5.7V in the middle of winter. Its done for.

I bet it fails the load test
Of course it will. You can not actually load test a battery thats less then fully charged. if you do, you get a false negative. The exception is a modern inductive battery tester. They can test a dead battery, but its not placing an actual load on them like those old style toaster-testers.

Batteries under warranty? Have the dealer get you a new one

I have the boat at the dealer now. Based on all the testing and the feedback here, certainly seems like the batteries are no good.

              Thanks for the feedback.
