    GT-40 / Shower / Cold Water T fitting part?

Hi, I need to replumb the shower - the PO has the shower cold water feed plumbed on the intake side before the transmission cooler.. As I understand it, the correct location to tee off the cold water feed is on the pressure side of the engine, right after the water pump.

I'm looking for a supplier for the poly Tee fittings needed. Any suggestions?

Cold water T-fitting should go here I believe.

Here's the current location - under the transmission on the line between the through hull pickup and the transmission cooler.

You can usually find the fittings at a local hardware or big box store, otherwise, this is probably what you're looking for https://www.grainger.com/product/LAS...ter-Tee-22FN55 From there, reuse what's coming out of the existing tee, and put a plug in its place. You can then use that existing tee as water source point for running off the hose in the driveway (poor man's flush kit). When you put the new tee in, a heat gun and some sort of lubricant will be your friend.

Ah...thanks for that. Any idea if this is actual part needed or just gets me to a catalog of like parts? Good suggestion on putting a hose feed in the old location....I like it!

Sorry, I didn't look at your proposed location initially. The tee I linked would work on the discharge side of the raw water pump (which is the smaller 1" hose behind the one you have circled). Personally, I wouldn't try to tap into that larger hose on the J-tube, as you'll probably have a **** of a time getting the hose off to put a tee in, and getting the length right to fit back in place could also be tricky. The 1" off the raw water pump, on the other hand, is pretty easy to pull off on the pump side (not so much on the thermostat housing side, but certainly easier than the J-tube), and it's much easier to work an insert fitting into smaller diameter hoses. You'd then need a male adapter for 1" threads to whatever hose size the heater is. You can either recycle the one you already have, or pick up a new one. You might need to splice additional hose into your shower feed line as well, depending on whether or not you have enough to get up to the front of the engine or not.

Thank you. This is why I love this board and it's members. That's a great idea and makes me wonder why I didn't think of that myself. That's totally the right approach and solves the bigger problem - where to find a 1.75 inch T fitting. They appear to made from unobtainium. Lots of choices in the one inch size. And this still puts me on the pressure side of the pump and definitely provides more access.

And yes, I do need more hose as who ever installed the cold water line in it's current location cut it to fit. Probably will just replace the entire with kit below as it's long enough and has the shower blend valve fitting already attached. If I put a slice in the inline, it will obstruct the water flow and that's basically the problem I have now..just pressure related.

Closing out this thread. I re-plumbed the cold water feed to be on the pressure side of the raw water pump. Shower now works great. Problem was clearly related to cold water feed being on the the draw side of the pump.

            Happy camper!

Where do you have the hot line? Also I know this is highjacking this thread but where would I put the hot and return for a heater?

Hot line comes of the port side aft engine block drain. My heater line feeds from the starboard side forward block drain and retums to a t fitting on the top of the engine. I can take a picture next time I am in there.....

I would really appreciate the picture. I think I understand but a picture would be great.

I have the exact same setup, using the suggested Grainger part, then a 90 degree 1/2" elbow attached to 1/2 inch hose, and get only a trickle of water pressure out of it. Hot pressure off the block is ok. trying to find a "y" fitting now that would perhaps better divert the cold water versus a "T"
