I have a 2007 196 Team with ZO and PerfectPass from factory. I don't use PerfectPass and want to take it out and put the speedo back in. I see the harness from the Perfect Pass integrates into the main dash harness. Can I simply plug the harness intro the speedo instead of the PP module or do I need another module to control the gages if PP is removed.

bfosbenner, I would be interested in your PP if you are removing it. I would like the whole system.

Do you know where the speed is coming from? Pitot, Paddle wheel or GPS?

I do not, no Pitot on the boat though. Since most 196's came with Perfect Pass standard (mine also has ZO) I wonder if that module is the gage controller as well as provides speed input from the paddlewheel. The PP head has always been disconnected since I purchased it as it will conflict with ZO. The master module is always connected.

I think that era was a paddle wheel unless it was the stargazer(GPS) I would assume you should be able to connect the speedo to that through the gateway or something.

With the help of Nautique Parts I figured it out. My boat is SE model and has "old" style direct wired gages. There is green wire in the harness that is the paddle wheel signal.
I can see where PP taps into it. The boat harness is evidently pre-wired for the PerfectPass, so its module can plug right into the system.
