First off, thanks for a great site and excellent input from many helpful owners. I've been checking in from time to time learning a lot, but never posted until now.
A little over a year ago I helped my daughter and son in law get into boating by going in together on a '95 Ski Nautique, limited edition (351 Ford w/EFI). Now they are buying me out and a problem has developed. They are in Del Rio, TX so there isn't much help nearby. The boat started by not wanting to start from time to time and then quickly progressed into dying not long after starting. It has a new battery and normal maintenance- fuel filter, etc.
There are two local boat mechanics and both have looked at it, but are backing away because they don't have the right diagnostic equipment. One thought the ECM was bad, but he wasn't sure. The other says there a bad connection at the fuel pump or the resister at the connection. And he says that it is now only running on the back four cylinders. He says that all 8 are getting spark, but when pulling off the plug wires on the front 4, there is no change. He thinks maybe a fuel injector/ECM problem. I'm thinking maybe fuel pump. Would low pressure do that?
Before it gets hauled 2-1/2 hours to San Antonio to the dealer, is there a suggestion or idea? Sorry for the long post and thanks for the help.
