    Pro Tech Ignition Upgrade ???

I noticed today a small amount of a white gooey substance that looks as if it dripped out of the Pro Tech igntion coils. The boat still runs great but after seeing this I am wondering if I may be in store for trouble in the near future with the infamous Pro Tech ignition problems that others have experienced. A few on the site have mentioned the new Pertronix billet marine distributors as a replacement along with the retro kit from DIM. Any comments or suggestions about either of these two distributors being better than the other? Also...has anyone that has changed from the Pro Tech ignition system over to the newer style electronic distributors noticed any performance gains such as better hole shot or top speed or does is it just offer better starting compared to the Pro Tech system. Any comments appreciated.

    Thanks!

I bought the conversion kit form skidim with the mallory dist. and it just seemed to idle better. Actually ran better all the way around. No more power just ran better if that makes sense.

I will purchase your ProTec system (coil packs and distributor) after the conversion. Price should be right as it is used and almost non-functional.

I know my Pro -Tech system bit the dust right after I bought my '93 about 4 years ago. I was one of the first to buy the "KIT" from DIM. It works great and I haven't had any problems with it in years. I know I've heard some "Bad Tales" about the Pro-Tech system. Yellow_Flash_Colorz:

Do you still have your dead ProTec parts?

If your asking if I have my Pro Tec parts, I do not. I held on to them until I sold my 91 sport last fall.
