Converting an '04 SANTE to Seadek flooring in place of carpeting?

    Hi,

Buying an '04 and may need to replace the carpet. Has anyone just tried to change out to Seadek instead? Tks

I dont think they had started to gel coat the floor by 2004. Once you rip carpet up you will find bare fiberglass, resin, and glue. Will take lots of sanding and then self leveling epoxy or some sort of paint to give the SeaDek a good surface to stick to. Keep in mind you will be able to see whatever paint or epoxy you put on the floor around the seams of panels. And there is a good chance your floor panels will have to be remade or at least reshaped. When you remove the carpet they will likely not fit the way you want them to. Plenty of threads on this site showing you the process. I would recommend reading through at least a few of them. It is quite the project. I plan to do this for myself next winter.

I just finished doing it on my '98 SN. A bit of a different layout than the SANTE but I think very doable. There were certain things and products that I would do differently but now after doing it I don't believe that it was too hard. One of these days I will post the process and pictures of how I did it.

There are a few of us here that have done that project. It's a bit of work and expense, just to get things tightened up with panels and then gelcoating exposed sections. Well worth the effort and expense, time and the convenience.

Prepping the pink fiberglass is the most important.....self leveling gel will still show imperfections.....just a rec

Several coats of this stuff was what worked best for me.

                Beamons...
I am starting the same project on my 96 Sport. I've been looking at this and FGCI Gelcoat Putty.

                1) Did you sand the raw fiberglass before
                2) How many gallons did you use?
                2) Did you gelcoat on top of this or leave it as is?

                Thanks!
