    Dry/rusty spark plug

Just changed the distributor cap/rotor, wires, and spark plugs on my GT40. Thought it was odd that one of the spark plugs looked different than the rest - the threads are dry/almost rusty. Is this something I need to investigate further? Thanks!

At very least I would check compression in cylinders to see how they are all looking. The main thing that will tell you more about how engine is running tho, is looking at your plug tips, does that tip look the same as the others, or is it also different? Black or wet and it may be running rich, whitish color and you could be lean. Typically (tho engines can be different), you are looking for a chocolate/rusty color on tips....least that is the best way I can describe it.
If tips are the same and compression is good across the board including that cylinder, maybe its possible on that one plug that it wasn't tightened down and some water sat at top of plug, seeped down threads and caused rust on the threads.
FYI, I use a little dielectric grease on my plug boots. Use cuetip to put just a little on the inside of the boot, avoid contact with any metal on plug boot, or tip of spark plug. I put some on both ends of the plug wires (you can google for more details on that). I just replaced all my plugs too.

Hey thanks for the response. Yeah after thinking about it a little more, I came to the same conclusion as you. All of the electrodes look great - I think some water just got down into the threads. I'll check compression.
