02 San Rudder Gland Copper Washer

    Hi All
Just doing my Rudder gland and found a large copper washer/shim in the bilge looks like its been left off
Ive tried various places where it could go
seems to fit best inside the top nut between the thread and packing
have I done the right thing?
1st time i have had to adjust this on this boat
    any help please
    Tom

Yep. And don't forget the safety wire when you're done. You don't have to go to great lengths to find stainless steel wire. Solid core copper will do just fine and is MUCH easier to find. The goal here is to secure the side and top bolts so they can't back out.
