    Steering Cable Replacement

Guys/Gals, I have a 1979 CC with a broken steering cable. Cable runs through center of the boat.

Is there any dos/donts when trying to remove it?

Anyone with experience with this because I have 0 but doesn't look like other brother in laws are going to do it so.

Your best bet with this is over on correctcraftfan.com. That site specializes in boats of this era and there are some very helpful people there.

Pretty easy really. Make sure you buy the right one,Tie a rope to the old one pull it out, tie the rope to the new one, pull it through and hook both ends back up.

Did both my '96 (twice) and my '97. I've done it myself, but much easier with two people. I don't know about your year, but both the '96 and '97 were a little tricky due to all of the cables, wires, heater hoses, etc. that go through the opening under the bow. Also, you will pull it out from the driver end. I'd suggest a metal fishing tape if you do have a lot of things that might hang it up. That and someone else to push while you're pulling.
