Damaged Optima Battery - Need Opinions

    Hey guys,

I ordered a new Optima Blue Top battery which was going to be used as my starter battery for the season. Upon arrival, I realized the battery was damaged in shipping (see pics). The dealer of course said I could return or keep for $50 which is their scrap price. He said as long as I could store it in a waterproof container there should be no ill e ffects. Looking at the pics, would you guys agree with this suggestion? $50 is a lot better than $275, but I also want a battery that performs correctly and not risk damaging my boat if it started to leak when charging.

    Thoughts????

There is no way I would keep that battery. IMO its dangerous and that guy shouldn't be working on boats or anything mechanical if he claims its ok.

Look at the safety data sheets on their website....filled with toxic stuff
