    G23 Ballast pressure sensor replacement

I have a ballast pressure sensor that appears to have failed and shows 100% full all the time. The bladder is actually empty and the pump shuts off immediately since the sensor is telling the computer that it’s full. When I look on the power diagnostics screen the sensor for that tank is showing 4.8 V (the other 2 are less than half that voltage at full). Has anyone ever replaced these before? If so how difficult was the job? I haven’t had a chance to go look for the sensor yet. My boat is still under warranty but I was hoping to avoid the hour+ trip to the dealership.

Same here on 2016 G23. Port ballast sensor is acting up. Mine shows 87% next day after pumping out to 0% previous evening.

Does anyone on PN have pic or detail of sensor location at rear. How to get to it to replace.

Can Linc be reset to 0% somehow. .

Same here , this issue mirrors my problem . Please report back on how difficult this sensor is to replace in a DIY situation . Like stated above , I would like to replace in my own vs taking to dealer . Also if you could post sensor price ; I realize I could look up in Nautique Parts but I don’t have access at the moment .

I had the same issue today. Ballast pumps would shut off immediately and show the bags were full. Checked setup screen and it showed 4.9 volts (out of range). I talked to the service tech at the dealer. He told me where the connector plug is to the sensor. Once this is unplugged the boat will not see the sensor and just fill on time. Unplugged the sensor and I can now fill the ballast. Reading is messed up but I always fill until it runs out the side so I know it is full. At least my weekend is not lost. Hope this helps with others for the Holiday weekend. Hard to surf without ballast.

Let me know if you need to know where to look for the plug. I would not have found without help from the tech.

I’ll do my best to explain without a picture since I’m no longer on the boat. For the starboard and port sensors, there is a 3 wire connector that comes out of the side of the stringer way at the back of the boat on each side. For the starboard side you need to likely need to take out the rear engine divider to reach it. Plug is on a short wire just outside the whole in the stringer. If I make it on the boat tomorrow I’ll try to grab a picture.

Here is a pic of the ballast pressure sensor. My dealer gave me a replacement under warranty. I installed it myself and it was a huge pain to install. It would help to have a couple extra joints in your arm. It is accessed be removing the rear engine divider (the small section behind the slide out divider). There is a round access port and the sensor is pretty deep in there. I took a 15/16” wrench and cut it in half to be able to fit in the tight space.

I bought an endoscope so I could see what I was doing, this is a starboard side of a 2016 G23 with a bad sensor. I was able to remove the sensor, however I see a yellow residue on the threads. I was wondering if anybody knows what that residue is and if I need to put it on the threads of the new one?

                          Thanks for your help

How many volts should the sensors read? Mine show about 1-1.5 when pumping.
