    2001 SAN ballast upgrade

    Hello,
I am removing my hard tanks and installing 750# bags in the rear lockers. I have a few questions:
    1. Do I need a check valve on the overflow/vent tube going to the thru-hull?
    2. What should I do with the old vent lines?
    3. Will I regret keeping the factory tsunami pumps to fill and empty the bags. I like the simplicity of using the original but I am worried about how long it will take to fill.

    Thanks

Just went through this yesterday with Brian at Wakemakers.......boy he couldn't have been more helpful and he gave me 3 different options for a upgrade on my 03' SANTE.
I am sure there are a ton of options out there.......but for me, I love when people just really want to help out vs. sell. All what you are asking in your thread he covered. ADVICE.......use the leave a message for call back option. They seem to be busy at this time of year. Brians help was worth waiting for the call back. Good luck....also don't forget to re-enforce the wall sleeves that pull out. A lot of people on this sight have expressed a lot of options. Good luck. D

Yes you’ll want to have check valves on the overflows. You will not use the factory vent knobs or thru hull fitting anymore. I would suggest replacing factory pumps with new Jabsco Ballast Puppies or equivalent. Aerator style pumps will take too long. Those are old technology. Impeller style pumps will fill your system in half the amount of time or better and be more reliable. Aerator style pumps don’t do well under pressure so when you put 750# x 2 for each bag on top of them, their performance goes way down.

Here is my thread on this install.
