Seadek/Gator Step - Expected Useful Life - Care

I’m thinking of making the jump to either Seadek or Gator Step on my SANTE 220. Haven’t really decided which brand, although Gator Step does seem to be a little more cost effective and as a company have been far more responsive. My big question is how long can I expect the product to hold up? I’m unsure when this product became the norm in Nautiques but I would guess it was 2010-11. Can anyone with first Gen models let me know how it has held up and what issues have been experienced. I scoured the site last night and read about care products and there seems to be quite a few products including one from SC wake that people recommend using a brush to scrub and has favorable results.

I saw another question pertaining to dog claws - would love to know more.

In general any tips or advice on the product or install would be appreciated.

It does not look as fancy as seadek or gator step but I ordered a roll of deckadence and cut it easily using my carpet as a pattern. It sure is an easy, durable and cost effective flooring solution. From a functionality standpoint its really hard to beat. Dogs paws are not issue and it is not "permanently" adhered to the deck.

my dog took a small chunk out of my rail pad 2nd day...only the size of a eraser head.....also have had a small chunk taken off side rail same size...don't know how. Not bomb proof, but is really nice to step on...not sure about floor...put in new carpet...didnt want to gel coat

I’m in the process of putting SeaDek in my SV211 just sent in my last dry fit revisions. I’m working with SC Wake they have great to deal with so far.

IMO, Deckedance for the main cabin is the way to go (pic below so you can see it). Way easier to keep clean (just roll up to remove and hose it off) and virtually impossible to tear. Also, any water/dust/dirt goes to bottom so if you drop a towel or life jacket, it doesnt get soaking wet. My boat is a 2014 and the Deckedance still looks brand new.

The factory decking (SeaDeck) is in good shape cause I am OCD, but it does fade and can stain. Also not easy to always get surf wax off it. I have Grey colored SeaDeck on m swim deck, transom step up and transom walk-thru.....I had a friend come out like 6 weeks ago who uses wax on his board. He didn't towel off his feet which I am normally on top of making sure happens and didn't notice it till I got the boat back home. I have used several things to try to clean it off, soap/water, LA Awesome, Simple Green, etc....so far have been unable to remove the stains from the wax, annoying. I need to find something that will work to remove it.
I think I am gonna start carrying some large socks on my boat, if someone comes out and wants to use wax on their board....then before getting on boat, they have to towel off their feet and put the socks on. Hate being that way, but also hate having stains on the boat that cant or are not easy to remove. Bugs the **** out of me cause I keep the boat in pristine condition.

FYI....last year I added some pieces of decking to my gunnels & bow to prevent scratches on top cap and create a better non-slip surface, also replaced the snap on carpet on top of my built-in cooler and replaced the really thin factory pieces at bottom of my 16 stainless cups holders with decking, this also makes it easier for people to get onto boat from dock without stepping on seats, they can step from gunnel, down to decking at corner which is under my rear corner seats (I just remove the seat in that corner when people are getting on boat). On transom walk thru at center of sundeck, I also ordered a single piece of decking to replace the 3 pieces that were installed at factory since the areas between the 3 pieces where hard to keep clean (in these pics I had not yet replaced the 3 piece set at walk-thru). I also added a custom step in the back seat to keep people from stepping on the vinyl when walking to back of boat....been a lifesaver for the seams in the vinyl on the seat since after the 1st 2 summers, the seams in back seat where splitting.

Aqua Marine Decking was able to perfectly match my factory SeaDeck color and design (Grey over Black) and the pricing and customer service was great. I ordered a template kit from them and then they made the order. Think I paid roughly $350 for everything, I ordered an extra piece of decking for my step in back seat in case I end up needing another one in future due to heavy use, its held up extremely well for last year tho.

I have it. Biggest complaint was seadeck's customer service. At 2 years mine was thrashed. They claim american company 3 year warranty... bogus. Sent them photos, they told me they replied that I didnt buy it from them even though it was on a 2012 boat winter of 2014 I'd have to buy new from them. Maybe saltwater is worse, but even nautiques agreed, covered replacement of it all under warranty. Lesson learned, IMO the stuff isn't the greatest thi ng since sliced bread, think a lot of people in the 5 year old used boat market are gonna be not such huge fans of it either.

I agree with you on some points. Don't get me wrong I love my Seadek but the durability and longevity are still a big question mark in my mind. Even though I'm very meticulous with covering my boat and keeping it in great shape, the Seadek has some small splits which I will address this fall under warranty. I think the jury is still out on this product and I'm just wondering what mine will look like after 5 years of use.

Good news is... I've never had it smell bad... cant say that about my carpet in previous nautiques
