Need help with ballast on 06 210

Having trouble with my factory ballast system in my boat. All the pumps fill up fine but will not drain. Thought the senders were bad but tried to adjust the ballast controller and couldn’t get them to turn on that way either so thinking the controller is bad and of course is not available on the Nautique parts website anymore. Is there a way to bypass it? I just want to be able to drain my dang ballast lol. And preferably be able to use factory switches. Thanks in advanced.

If all 3 of your pumps are operating correctly (coming on when you're hitting the buttons for drain/fill) you most likely have an impeller problem. They get weak over time. I believe they are a green color at this point. My 06 went through a lot of those back when it was new. Multiple versions

Would the pumps still work one way if they had bad impellers? They turn on to fill but do not to drain. Buttons do work correctly. How hard is it to change impellers? Believe it or not this never happened on my Tige’ which is hilarious considering all the problems I did have with it

Are you hearing the pumps at all when draining? Or do you only hear them when filling? The impellers are very simple to change and if you are hearing the pumps come on to drain but nothing happens then most likely it’s the impellers.

Only hear them when filling. They don’t make any noise when set to drain.

I think this could be your ballast control module up under the dash going bad, there is a way to bypass it, but you’ll lose the run dry protection.
            See this post below.

Ok, what are you gauges reading? If unplugged or no signal (loose connection/faulty sending unit) and the gauges read empty all the time, then the pumps will fill, but not drain. You can unplug the sending units and insert jumper wire that way they always read full. Check connection behind gauges also.

Just now saw this! Definitely going to give this a try when I get the boat out of storage this spring

Always interesting to see these types of posts, it helps a lot as I try to figure out what to look out for when looking for that next used boat. All manufactures have weak spots and the control box keeps coming up on this site going back to the gauges on the early 2000 boats and now in the mid 2000s with a system like this.

I've made several comments about screens/systems on the new boats that were panned as being near paranoid. After reading this type of post I'm more convinced than ever that the new systems will result in even deeper, more complex issues to troubleshoot as manufactures integrate automation further into more subsystems from stereos to bilge pumps. Seems like a good opportunity for someone to specialize in and something to really check out on that next used boat.

Want to see the future? Look at the past.

2006 was an odd year for ballast. But it’s been pretty well figured out. Lots of great stuff in the DIY section and the tech section if you search. Also a couple of good YouTube vids out there as well.
