My SAN is a 2000 and i was curious if anyone else has done the valve covers after around 6 years. I notice a little oil sitting on the flange of the valve cover and i was curious if it was from the valve cover bolt. The left side (pax side) is dry. I haven't had a chance to really look closely yet. Just curious ? Can they be changed without taking the exhaust manifolds off ?

GT-4- valve cover oil
I had change the valve gasket of my 01 GT-40, still can see little bit oil on the flange,(before can see that also),if it'e little bit only I though that is normal, some times that little bit oil mix with little bit water, just clean it if you don't like, at the past few year, that makes no trouble. you can take easy of mine.

RE: engine make up
Lucey your oil is not coming from the gasket as it is coming from the hose that comes from the oil fill neck to the flame arrestor. It is from using a funnel and dumping oil in the engine too fast and it backing up the hose.

Yeah, i looked at that today but the hose, cap etc look nice and dry. Without really getting in there and looking i just can't tell. I'm wondering if it might be the V-drive leaking a little (overfull a little ?). It is funny, i changed all the fluids and checked everything. It all looks good but for some reason i am getting a little oil in the bilge and it gets mixed with the bilge water which i noticed when draining. First time i have ever seen any oil. The only oil i see is the little bit on the valve cover flange at the front right (pointing forward) This engine is super clean by the way.
